Essex Industries Acquires Momeni Engineering

Essex Industries is pleased to announce the acquisition of Momeni Engineering LLC, a manufacturing company located in Huntington Beach, California, effective January 1, 2019.

Founded in 1947, Essex Industries is a leading supplier to the Aerospace and Defense market, providing platform controls, aircraft components, emergency breathing and liquid oxygen equipment.  The company employs over 300 people in its four St. Louis facilities.

Momeni Engineering provides precision machined OEM parts and assemblies to aerospace and medical companies.  Originally founded in the late 1980’s, the company as currently structured was established in 2010.  Momeni operates from two co-located facilities with 45 employees.

The acquisition of Momeni supports Essex’ business strategy of further expanding its commercial aircraft product portfolio.  With Momeni’s location, it will also provide improved service for Essex customers on the West Coast.

According to Evan Waldman, Essex CEO, “Essex and Momeni Engineering share common markets, manufacturing expertise and values.  Working together, we will be able to offer a broader range of products and enhanced customer service.”

The company will continue to operate as Momeni Engineering in Huntington Beach, California.

Essex Industries PBE Selected by Korean Air

Protective Breathing Equipment - PBE

Essex Industries is pleased to announce that their PBE, Protective Breathing Equipment, was selected by Korean Air for its new CS300 aircraft.

The Essex PBE is a self-contained personal breathing device that provides crewmembers with protection during emergencies in an aircraft.   The PBE is easy to activate and use, donning in just 15 seconds.  Its unique design eliminates the need for an oral/nasal mask so that crewmembers can communicate while wearing the unit.  The Essex PBE provides up to 60 minutes of aviator’s grade oxygen by means of two oxygen cylinder assemblies, unlike other units that use chemical-oxygen generators.  Recognized for its safe design, the Essex PBE is the lightest unit available, making it more comfortable for the crew and reducing fuel costs for the airline through weight reduction.  Essex PBE’s are installed in the majority of U.S. airlines and a growing number of carriers throughout the world.  The PBE holds FAA TSO-C116 and TSO-C99 approvals as well as CAA, EASA, CAAC and ANAC approvals.

Ranked as one of the top 20 passenger carriers in the world, Korean Air maintains a fleet of 164 planes and operates scheduled flights to 123 cities in 43 countries worldwide.  It is the largest airline and flag carrier of South Korea based on fleet size, international destinations and international flights.  Korean Air is part of the SkyTeam Airline Alliance.

NEW LOX VIDEO

Essex has released a new training video on 7 Liter and 10 Liter Liquid Oxygen Converters. The video reviews common troubleshooting procedures so that customers can address basic issues in the field instead of returning the units to Essex.

AS9100D/ISO9001:2015 Certification

Essex Industries has received notification from BSI that its AS9100D/ISO9001:2015 accreditation has been approved.  This certification will be in effect until February 27, 2020, contingent upon successful completion of annual surveillance audits.

AS9100D is a quality management standard for organizations that design and manufacture products for the aerospace industry including parts, components and assemblies.  ISO9001 is an international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system, or QMS.

This certification applies to all four Essex facilities and covers Platform Controls, Aircraft Components, Liquid Oxygen Equipment and Emergency Breathing Equipment.
