Essex industries has introduced a new Safety brochure featuring fire-safe valve assemblies and actuators, as well as emergency breathing equipment for industrial applications.

The brochure provides detailed information on Essex fire-safe and electro-thermal ball valve assemblies and butterfly actuators designed to open or close lines automatically when hazardous situations occur.  Multi-port ball valve actuators and custom fire-safe valve assemblies are also available.

For personal breathing protection in emergency industrial situations, the brochure includes the VRU+, a self contained device which can provide up to 60 minutes if respiratory protection and the Plus 15®, single-use air-purifying respirator.

Essex Industries is pleased to announce that they have been issued U.S. Patent 8,402,965 on the MODS, Mass Oxygen Distribution System. This low pressure, portable 75 liter liquid oxygen storage and gaseous distribution system is capable of supplying up to 64,500 gaseous liters of on-board oxygen. As many as 150 patients can receive oxygen at the same time through the use of the Patient Distribution Kits (PDK) connected to the MODS.

The MODS requires no external power so it can be deployed and set-up anywhere. Once in use, the system requires very little manpower, so rescue personnel can focus on the needs of their patients. The main components of the MODS are adapted from Essex military life support systems with decades of field experience. The MODS is certified to DOT 4L for safe LOX transport and has FDA 510k clearance.

The Essex sales team, engineering group and key executives journey around the globe to meet with customers and uncover new business opportunities.  Now when they travel, they can take their desktop applications with them.

The IT department at Essex recently virtualized its data center infrastructure and desktops, improving service and extending capabilities to end users in the company.  Virtualization goes way beyond email, allowing Essex personnel full secure access to their network files and software such as CRM, ERP and CAD no matter where they are.  This latest technology enables them to be more productive while traveling and also gives them more immediate access to information that customers may require.

Essex utilized an end-to-end infrastructure from Dell^® for this project and was featured in a case study detailing the benefits, including achieving major cost savings, enhanced business continuity and increased the responsiveness of service for customers.

Essex is pleased to announce their exclusive marketing and sales rights to all government agencies for EVAS^TM, Emergency Vision Assurance System, a safety product from VisionSafe Corporation.  

EVAS displaces all smoke in the line of sight, providing a clear space of air through which the pilot can see vital instruments and the flight path.  If standard smoke evacuation procedures are not sufficient, EVAS can provide emergency backup, giving the pilot visual ability to safely land the plane.  

This patented system is FAA tested and certified to ensure pilot vision in the presence of dense, continuous smoke. When needed the pilot removes the Inflatable Vision Unit (IVU) from the EVAS case and pulls a tab to activate the system.  A battery powered blower draws in smoky air while filtering out visible particles.  The filtered air is then pumped out to a flexible air duct connected to the transparent IVU, causing it to inflate.  This IVU gives the pilot clear vision to essential flight instruments and to the forward flight path.  An internal light also provides illumination to the flight instruments.  

After activation, EVAS is continually pressurized with filtered cockpit air to maintain volume and preserve a clear view.  EVAS is a self-contained system, designed to run for two hours on the battery supply, pump and filter contained in each storage case.  This compact system is very easy to install and has a 10 year warranty.  

FAA regulations require smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, smoke goggles and oxygen masks onboard aircraft.  However, these systems and equipment for flight safety might be useless if pilots cannot see to control and land the aircraft.  In smoke-related emergencies, EVAS can provide a clear view to safety.
